Lib Dems celebrate electoral success in Croydon
Liberal Democrats are celebrating after increasing their vote in the Croydon & Sutton GLA constituency last week, and gaining an extra Assembly Member at City Hall.
Claire Bonham, who stood in Croydon & Sutton, secured 26,258 votes (14.4%) – an increase of 4.1% from 2016. Liberal Democrats doubled their number of Assembly Members with Hina Bokhari joining Caroline Pidgeon at City Hall.
Claire Bonham said:
“I am delighted that we saw the Lib Dem vote increase in Croydon and Sutton, and would like to express my thanks to all those who voted. Here in Croydon, residents are desperate for an alternative following Labour's mismanagement of our local council and the financial crisis which has followed. Croydon is an amazing place to live with an incredible community, but we need change at a local level so that local people feel their voices are being heard.
"It is wonderful news that Hina Bokhari was elected as a London Assembly Member alongside Caroline Pidgeon and I know that both of them will work tirelessly for Croydon, as well as London".
